Oratorio is a rhythm rail-shooter for the NES with two physical versions. Here's what each includes, how it compares to other Premium Edition rhythm games, and who should buy which.

Quick answer

Oratorio - Original NES Edition is a rhythm action rail-shooter that runs on original NES hardware. The Regular Edition is a one-month open preorder with a silver label, while the Silver Limited Edition is extremely limited and likely sold out. If you want a physical NES game that plays like a music-driven shooter, this is a strong pick—but if you need a soundtrack CD or steelbook, look at other Premium Edition releases.

What Oratorio actually is

Oratorio is a rhythm action rail-shooter for the Nintendo Entertainment System. You move along a rail, shoot to the beat, and dodge obstacles in time with the music. It is a complete NES cartridge with a color label that plays in your original NES console.

This is a homebrew physical release, not a reissue of a vintage game. That matters because the cartridge is built for real hardware, not just emulation. If you collect NES games, Oratorio sits alongside modern homebrew titles that keep the platform alive.

Regular vs Silver Limited Edition: the real differences

The Regular Edition was a one-month open preorder, meaning anyone could order during that window. After the window closed, stock became limited. The Silver Limited Edition is extremely limited by comparison and was not open for the same length of time.

Both editions include the same core item: an original NES game cartridge with a color label. The difference is primarily the label color and the scarcity of the Silver version. If you missed the preorder window, the Regular Edition is the more realistic option. The Silver Edition is for completists who want the rarer variant.

How Oratorio compares to other Premium Edition rhythm games

If you are weighing Oratorio against Music Racer Ultimate on PS5, the trade-off is platform and format. Music Racer Ultimate is a PS5 steelbook edition that includes a soundtrack and lets you use your own music via a WebDAV server. Oratorio is strictly NES hardware, with no soundtrack CD mentioned in the catalog facts.

For NES collectors, Oratorio is the only option here that runs on original hardware. For players who want a modern rhythm game with custom music support, Music Racer Ultimate is the better fit. They serve different setups and different kinds of collectors.

What you are not getting

The catalog facts for Oratorio do not list a soundtrack CD, art book, or steelbook. If those extras matter to you, Cabernet Collector's Edition and Teslagrad Power Pack Collector's Edition include physical bonuses like an art book and soundtrack. Oratorio is a cartridge-first release.

That is not a flaw—it is a different kind of product. You are buying a playable NES game, not a collector's box. Set your expectations accordingly.

Trade-offs to weigh

Platform lock-in: Oratorio runs only on NES hardware. Music Racer Ultimate runs on PS5 and supports custom music via WebDAV. Choose Oratorio if you actively play NES; choose Music Racer Ultimate if you want modern convenience.
Edition scarcity: Regular Edition had a one-month open preorder and is limited after. Silver Limited Edition is extremely limited. If you want the Silver Edition, act fast or expect to pay a premium. The Regular Edition is the safer buy.
Included extras: Oratorio includes the cartridge with a color label. Cabernet Collector's Edition includes a soundtrack CD, art book, pin, and brooch. If physical extras drive your purchase, Oratorio is not the right product. If you only want the game, it is.
