The Rick Henderson Extra Edition for Nintendo Switch adds retro shoot-'em-up action with extra content. Compare it to the Standard Edition to decide which fits your collection.
Quick answer
The Rick Henderson Extra Edition on Nintendo Switch includes the game plus bonus content, but it's not the serialized Elite Edition. If you want the extra items without the collector's numbering, this edition is a solid middle ground.
What makes the Extra Edition different
The Extra Edition of Rick Henderson is essentially a step down from the Extra Elite Edition. While the Extra Elite Edition comes with a serialized collector's box and the Elite Edition of the game, the Extra Edition includes the Standard Edition disc plus the same physical extras. This means you get the bonus items like an art book or soundtrack (if included) but not the numbered packaging or exclusive game variant.
For shmup fans who want the extra content but don't care about collector numbering, the Extra Edition saves money over the Extra Elite Edition. However, if you're after the most complete collector's set, you'll want the Elite Edition instead.
Extra Edition vs Standard Edition: Trade-offs
- Extra Edition extras: Includes physical bonus items like an art book or soundtrack that the Standard Edition lacks.
- No serialized box: Unlike the Extra Elite Edition, this version uses standard packaging and doesn't have a numbered collector's box.
- Game content identical: The actual game disc is the Standard Edition, so there's no additional in-game content or levels. If you only care about gameplay, the Standard Edition is cheaper and offers the same experience.
