AK-Xolotl Collector's Edition PS5 vs Standard: What's Different

The core difference: game disc vs. collector's box

The AK-Xolotl physical release for PlayStation 5 comes in two forms: a Standard edition and a Collector's Edition. The Standard edition gives you the game disc. The Collector's Edition adds a set of physical extras alongside the game. That is the comparison in one line. The rest of this article breaks down exactly what those extras are, what they cost, and whether they matter to you.

One limitation up front: the supplied catalog record lists the Standard edition as a variant with no additional attributes, and it does not itemize a separate Standard-edition contents list. So the Standard column below reflects only the game itself. If you need confirmation of a manual, insert, or other pack-in for the Standard version, check the product page or ask the store before ordering.

What each version includes

The Collector's Edition contents are confirmed by the product record. The Standard edition contents are not separately itemized in the same record.

• Standard edition: Game disc for PlayStation 5. No other pack-ins are confirmed in the supplied record.
• Collector's Edition: Game, Collector's Box, Soundtrack, Postcard Set, Key Ring, Art Book, Stickers Sheet, and Collectible Pin.

Collector's Edition contents, verified

• AK-Xolotl Collector's Edition [PlayStation 5]: Collector's Edition includes: Game, Collector's Box, Soundtrack, Postcard Set, Key Ring, Art Book, Stickers Sheet, Collectible Pin. This is the complete list of extras you are paying for over the Standard edition.

• AK-Xolotl Collector's Edition [PlayStation 5]: Individually Numbered: No. If you collect numbered editions, this one is not numbered, so the box itself is not a serialized collectible.

Price check: what the extras cost you

The catalog lists the Collector's Edition at USD 59.19, with a comparison price of USD 79.99. The Standard edition price is not supplied in this record, so a direct price difference cannot be calculated from the evidence here. Treat the Collector's Edition price as the known figure and check the Standard listing for its current price before deciding.

The honest trade-off: the Collector's Edition bundles seven physical extras beyond the game. Whether that is worth the premium depends on whether you display art books, use key rings, or keep soundtrack discs. If you only want to play the game, the Standard edition is the leaner choice. If you want the box set for a shelf, the Collector's Edition is the one that includes it.

What the game itself is like

Both editions contain the same game, so gameplay is not a differentiator. AK-Xolotl is a rogue-lite shooter starring axolotls with firearms. You fight through randomly generated rooms across biomes, with a boss at the end of each. You can find axolotl eggs, breed Axolittles, and use permanent recipes to improve stats. The game also includes melee options like the Lotl-Axe and power-ups such as Mjolnir and Gamer Juice.

The PEGI 16 rating is worth noting if you are buying for a younger player. The cute art style does not change the rating.

Decision guide: which edition fits you

• Choose the Standard edition if: You only want to play the game and do not need physical extras. The supplied record does not itemize Standard contents, so confirm any pack-ins with the store if that matters to you.
• Choose the Collector's Edition if: You want the Collector's Box, soundtrack, art book, postcard set, key ring, stickers, and pin alongside the game. The catalog price is USD 59.19, and the extras are confirmed in the product record.
• Skip both if: You do not own a PlayStation 5 or you prefer digital. The record confirms this is a PS5 physical release.
